Galapagos Islands Tops Adventure List

Galapagos Islands Tops the Adventure List

Galapagos Cruises offer the best way to see the #1 adventure destination on the planet. A recent survey conducted June, 2011 by AvidTrips that included 60 domestic and international destinations, ranked the Galapagos Islands first among adventure destinations. Any Galapagos cruise by Galapagos Explorer reveals the reason the islands are so compelling. As an all-suite vessel, the Explorer II traveling in and around the archipelago provides luxury on board ship and maximum excursion potential on land or sea.

With twice-daily tours led by trained naturalist guides, group sizes never exceed 16 individuals offering maximum guide-to-visitor ratios. Most often, there are both land and marine excursions each day to see the fearless wildlife in abundance the Galapagos is known for. All of the Galapagos cruises on the Explorer II offer a mixture of habitats to visit, from giant tortoises to land iguanas, from flora and fauna or to see frigates or blue-footed boobies.

As the #1 adventure destination, the Galapagos Islands have numerous immersion and high impact activities. While hikes on land are typically not vigorous or taxing, sea touring provides either more sedate underwater views, like the glass bottom boat tours, or active adventure. On your Galapagos cruise you can snorkel, kayak, or scuba dive. Many adventurists love to scuba dive in the waters around the archipelago.

For example, the richness of the underworld in the Galapagos is plentiful and colorful. There are enormous schools of endemic fish and hammerhead sharks, water turtles, and an abundance of whales and dolphins. Many visitors love to snorkel with the sea lions and watch them play and romp around. Plus, since the Galapagos archipelago was formed from volcanoes, the underwater world sports breathtaking caves and caverns to swim in and around.

Interestingly, AvidTrips adventure survey indicated some age and gender breakdowns about most popular destinations chosen. For the Galapagos, males identified the archipelago as the most desirable location. And, the 18 to 34 year old category was also high on the list. Yet, it is clear that Galapagos cruises have the perfect blend between high impact and leisure activities and remains the ideal destination for families and individuals from all age groups and genders.

No matter the skill level from snorkeling to kayaking, to bird-watching or stargazing onboard the Explorer II, any Galapagos Cruise provides a range of adventure for everyone. For additional information, visit the 'itinerary and rates' section of this website.
