Rich with abundant sea life, the waters off Ecuador provide astonishing views when Diving the Galapagos Islands.  For experienced and mature divers, the islands become a high point when you Dive Galapagos.  As a protected environment with no commercial fishing permitted, the depths of the Pacific Ocean reveal an experience like nowhere else on earth.

The island chain formed itself through volcanic eruptions.  This sets it apart from many other ‘drift off’ land mass islands that offer diving opportunities around the world.  Since their formation is unique in this regard, the Galapagos provides an unusually diverse and nutrient-rich environment from which species have evolved and thrived.  As such, when you dive Galapagos as an experienced diver you will witness a breadth and ‘depth’ of marine life untainted by outside forces.

The Explorer II partners with Galapagos Sub-Aqua, a twenty year veteran for diving in the Galapagos Islands.  Located on Santa Cruz Island, Sub-Aqua offers dive packages several days per week in the most optimal viewing areas.  A common dive spot is Academy Bay.  It typically provides low current conditions with several dive options, when weather is optimal.

When diving Galapagos in Academy bay, favored locations can include Punta Estrada that teams with sea turtles, El Bajo Solma which reveals an impressive amount of fish including sharks, morays, stingrays, invertebrates, and much more.  Dive entry points also include Daphne Islet where experienced divers view underwater caves.  Another option is Mosquera Islet which has hammerhead sharks and garden eels swimming in an underwater sloping shelf wall environment.

For the discerning and experienced diver nowhere else on earth provides such dense sea life as the archipelago.  Moving a school of fish as you swim your way through the diverse and colorful mass, you will see why diving (in) the Galapagos Islands is incomparable to any other underwater experience you’ve ever known.
