It is not knownthe exact numberand typesof species that makecomplex marineecosystems, but theseinclude marine mammalslike theendemicsea lions,fur seals,bonefishandcartilaginous fishsuch as sharksand rays,as well asmarine invertebrates andplant species.
The Galapagos Islandshave a tremendousvariety of birds.The most famous,of course, arethe finches,which are a clearexample of theDarwinian theory ofevolutiontheorybased onnatural selection.
At least85% ofthe land birdsare endemic to thearchipelago,and several ofthem are endemiconlyin a certainisland in thearchipelago.In addition, seabirdsincludeendemic species such asthe Galapagos penguin, theflightless cormorant andthegullelegantearwig.
Reservaciones As more is known for its fascinating Galapagos reptiles endemic variety. The giant tortoise is known worldwide, and the marine iguana, the only creature that enters the sea, is almost as famous as the sea turtle.
In addition, there are two different species of land iguanas. There are seven species of lava lizards, many of which are limited to certain islands, and a variety of snakes and geckos whose existence is known to be one of the Galapagos.
